Diligence should inform action

Customer concentration, systems, talent, contracts, working capital, culture, and reporting should flow directly into an integration plan rather than remain isolated in diligence files.

Decide what must change

Not every process should be standardized immediately. Management should distinguish critical Day One requirements from improvements that can occur after continuity is secured.

Assign ownership

Each integration objective needs a responsible leader, timing, resources, and a measurable result. Without ownership, urgent operating matters will displace important integration work.

Questions for Owners

Questions worth considering

  • What cannot fail on Day One?
  • Which people and customers require immediate attention?
  • Who is accountable for each synergy or operating change?
